Need a Coffee Alternative?

I’m off daily coffee for the moment as I’m getting some mild signs of estrogen dominance (sore boobs, sluggish metabolism, fatigue, irregular periods) and coffee is a well known estrogenic food. It’s best for most women to have coffee breaks because of how it affects our hormones.

I love my morning coffee routine though and so I wanted to get a good replacement. Tea just doesn’t cut it in the morning. Tea is my afternoon beverage. Here’s what I made. It’s really tasty and a great winter drink, it’s good for your hormones and satiating, plus it has that roasted coffee taste which I’m missing.

Ingredients serves 2
* 1 tablespoon roasted chicory root * 2 cups of water
* 2 teaspoons of ghee, coconut butter or butter (if tolerated)
* 2 pitted dates
* Cinnamon

How To Make

1. Place chicory in a cooking pot and cover with water.
2. Bring it to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
3. Turn off the heat and let it steep for 5 minutes.
4. Strain and transfer to the blender, then add the ghee and the dates. Blend for 1 minute.
5. Add some cinnamon and enjoy!
