Why are you undermining yourself?
We often hear or say these statements and we need to ask ourselves if they help us improve or are they actually wearing us down?
Why are you cheating in a way that undermines everything you’re trying to do for yourself?
Are you skipping workouts?
Eating foods you know will make you feel bad ?
Are you binging and then restricting?
Are you talking to yourself harshly?
Self shaming?
Are you buying trigger foods?
Drinking too much alcohol?
Staying up late instead of getting the sleep you need?
Sometimes sticking to your health intentions can be challenging. When you are trying to get into shape, it is easy to feel annoyed at yourself after having a packet of biscuits or a bottle of wine.
Often we end up feeling like if we have had a piece of chocolate we might as well as eat the whole bar or if we have had one beer we might as well have six. This makes us feel guilty, for simply enjoying the food and drink or missing a workout.
Whatever it is, stop for a moment, focus on the bigger picture. That behavior is not going to support you, so ask yourself.
No, I mean like really ask yourself.
Stop what you’re doing right now and ask .
Why am I cheating in a way that undermines everything I’m trying to do for myself?
You feel what you feel and it is important to reflect on why you feel this way. What is driving this behaviour?
That answer will reveal what you are truly valuing and this will offer a clearer path to what it is you really want and help you prioritize to get there.
