Does Lifting Weights Make Women Bulky?
Will weight lifting make me bulky?
It’s a question that comes up over and over again so here we go: NO.
Having extra fat over the muscle makes you bulky not the muscle itself.
It really just makes you look toned, curvy and lean unless you’ve been building for YEARS and perhaps taking performance enhancing drugs (PEDs). The best natural female athletes in the WORLD can expect to put on around 5 pounds of muscle in a year. I am thrilled if I add half a pound of muscle in 8 weeks. Building muscle is a long, slow process that requires years of consistency , dedication and effort.
Everyone Responds Differently To Training
We all have more responsive areas and less responsive. Some girls might have very responsive biceps, others have responsive glutes or legs. If the arms are growing muscle faster than the legs / glutes it’s pretty easy to address that in a body building training plan to bring the body into proportion.
In the very beginning of a strength training program you will build muscle faster getting the ‘newbie gains’ because you’re building new neuronal pathways, but this will slow down after the first 6/12 months.
The Key Takeaway
As a woman you wouldn’t have had a lot of muscle to begin with, so this will just build a good base which is a 100 % good idea to improve all systems of the body. Women won’t bulk up when they start lifting lose body fat and earn the toned appearance that many women hope to achieve. It can prime you for a healthy, strong body at any age.
